It allows you to easily put a flashlight attachment to the side. It mounts securely and without too much effort.

I use a 2 point sling but use a Inforce WML. This rail works perfect to mount the light. I put a MagPul SLR attachment for my sling point to the top rail of the KSG and everything now is practical, useful, in its proper place, ergonomic and works out great for my application. Even if you use a single point sling, this puts your light out of the way, doesn't move with the slide  when you rack a round and allows light to be ergonomically located.. If your a left handed user...works for you as well. I had bought another 45' rail attachment before I found this one...I didn't like the way it situated my light for my application. Hope this helps.

Bought for light mounting purpose only. Other options are too High or too low interfering with the racking of the shotgun of limited rail space on top do to reflex sight and flip-ups. Makes great use of an in affective front sling mount.

The rail was a cinch to install, and mounts very securely. I put a Streamlight TLR-1 on this little rail, and it puts the light in the perfect spot for me to flick it on and off with a fingertip, without needing a remote switch. Overall, this rail section is well machined, the anodization is very high quality, and it is exactly what I needed for my KSG.

This was the only thing I'be found so far that lets me mount my TLR-1 HL in a good spot to easily actuate the switch.  I prefer the standard shotgun grip to a vertical or angle one, and I can comfortably reach the light with my left hand if the mini side rail is mounted on the right side.
